Anytime your child will be absent from school, please send an email to the Registrar, Jana Zamarripa at bhcattendance@leanderisd.org . All student absence notes are due within 48 hours of a student returning. Please allow 2-5 workdays for the attendance to be updated on Home Access. Also, please make sure the following information is in your email: 

Student's name - first and last

Student ID (if known)

Teacher's name

Date(s) of absence

Reason for absence

Attach Dr. note from doctor, dentist etc. if applicable

Our doors open for students at 7:10am. Teachers begin their instruction at 7:30 each day. If your child is just 10 minutes late each day of the week, that accumulates to 50 minutes of lost instruction time and roughly 200 minutes ( 3 hours & 20 minutes) of lost instruction each month. We want each and every Bear to be engaged in learning all day, every day!

Campus Truancy Prevention Measures to Improve Attendance

On page 21 of the parent and family handbook, LISD explains the attendance policy and measures put in place so students are successful each year. Campuses provide a multitude of Truancy Prevention Measures to support improving student attendance prior to a referral to a truancy court. These steps may include, but are not limited to:

1. Notifications when students are absent.

2. Attendance warning notifications for excessive unverified/unexcused and excessive excused absences.

3. Invitation to view a Truancy Prevention Video.

4. Referral to school and community resources.

5. Notification of hours owed to regain credit.

6. Attendance Behavior Improvement Plan (ABIP).
