Generation Texas Week At BHC

Generation Texas Week is a time where students in Texas think about their future. Education does not stop after high school. It can continue through college, vocational schools, military training, or even on the job training.

On Thursday, November 8th, Leander ISD presents a parent workshop, LEANDER ISD SAVING AND PAYING FOR COLLEGE. This workshop is 6-8 pm at the Cedar Park HS Performing Arts Center.  This workshop is for all parents. Representatives from the Texas Comptroller’s Office will provide information on several options to save for college including:

  • Texas Tuition Promise Fund Prepaid Tuition
  • Lonestar 529 Plan
  • Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan

Vendors and private financial advisors will be in the PAC lobby for additional information.

During the week of November 12th-16th, BHC students will celebrate Generation TX Week. Each day there will be a theme to dress by.  All outfits must fit into the school dress code and include appropriate shoes for PE.

Monday, Nov 12: Begin with the end in mind, wear a COLLEGE SHIRT

Tuesday, Nov 13: Your future is bright- wear BRIGHT COLORS

Wednesday, Nov 14: Keep your future in mind, dress like your FUTURE CAREER

Thursday, Nov 15: Step up to education, wear CRAZY SOCKS OR SHOES

Friday, Nov 16: Your future begins now, wear a BHC SCHOOL SHIRT

The counselor classroom lessons for November will focus on “Begin With The End In Mind”. We will discuss concepts like goal setting, continuing education past high school, and careers. In addition to these lessons, 3rd-5th grade students will be learning about a college and creating a poster that will be displayed for all students to learn from.
