LISD Says “Thank You” to Child Nutrition Services Staff, Oct. 10-14
During the second week of October, LISD sets aside time to say “thank you” to the more than 250 members of the Child Nutrition Services team and recognize all that they do to ensure students in the district receive healthy, nutritious meal options.
Research shows that students cannot learn at their fullest potential if they are hungry. That’s why our CNS team is focused on meeting the nutritional needs of students through a variety of wholesome meal options, including proteins, whole grains and low fat menu selections. LISD provides vegetarian items, too.
With professional chefs and registered dieticians on staff, the LISD CNS department takes great pride in providing students with delicious breakfast and lunch options every day. During the school year, CNS staff serve a staggering 3.1 million meals to LISD students. That’s more than 1 million pieces of fresh fruit, 6,100 lbs. of fresh baby spinach, and 3.5 million baby carrots each year!
Most importantly, LISD CNS staff members strive to do what’s best for students. They work hard and selflessly give their time and attention to get to know their students and greet them with a smile.
On behalf of LISD, we say “thank you for fueling our schools!”

Encourage your child to discover a new hobby, expand their knowledge, nurture their creativity or learn a new language. All classes will take place immediately after school at 2:55 p.m., in a designated area on the student's campus.
Please check the course catalog for class end time.
LISD Bus Route Information
Available Online Aug. 10
On Aug. 10, Leander ISD parents can enter their home address into Infofinder i
, an online tool available on the LISD website, to look up their child’s bus number and pick-up/drop-off times and locations for the coming school year. In an effort to reduce expenses and ensure real-time accuracy, the district does not print and distribute bus route schedules prior to the start of school. Bus routes are subject to change, and so LISD parents are strongly encouraged to confirm their child’s bus information again the week prior to the start of school, Aug. 15-19. For transportation questions, please call 512-570-0700.

Site-Based Planning Committees Need You!
Each campus within Leander ISD has a Site-Based Planning Committee (SBPC). These committees are composed of district employees, community members, business representatives and parents. SBPC members provide input to the principal on a wide variety of subjects, with an aim of improving the achievement of all students. The committees address such areas as planning, curriculum, budgeting, staff development, staffing patterns and school organization. Elections for parent representatives are held every fall. Parents can only serve as a parent representative at the campus where they have a child attending school. If you would like to find out more information about the council, run for one of the parent seats or nominate someone for one of the seats, please call the campus your student attends no later than Friday, September 2.

IT PAYS TO RECYCLE!
Please bring us your magazines, catalogs, newspapers, junk mail, and over the holidays bring your wrapping paper! Our big green and yellow paper bin is located in the parking lot by the cafeteria. BHC receives money for paper collected; this is a great way to help out BHC, the community, and the environment! Please do not put trash, mattresses, or old furniture in bins. Thank you for your support!
Visit the LISD web site for information and resources about the new STAAR test.
